Privacy Policy — PathPulse

PathPulse Inc. ("Company", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use the PathPulse mobile application ("App").

By using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use immediately.

1. Data Controller

PathPulse Inc. is the data controller of your personal information.

If you are located in the UK or EU, we have appointed a data protection representative (see Section 13).

2. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of data:

2.1 Account & Identity Data

  • Mobile number (for WhatsApp OTP verification)
  • Profile details (if voluntarily provided)

2.2 Recording & Travel Data

  • Video recordings from dashcams or mobile devices
  • Location data (GPS, route, speed)
  • Device sensor data (accelerometer, gyroscope)

2.3 Technical Data

  • Device make, model, OS version
  • IP address
  • App usage logs, crash reports

2.4 Communication Data

  • Messages sent to support
  • Consent preferences

2.5 Cookies & Tracking

  • Cookies and SDKs for analytics, crash monitoring, and fraud prevention
  • Device identifiers for usage statistics

3. How We Use Your Data & Legal Basis

We process your data for the following purposes, under GDPR lawful bases:

  • Account creation & login → Contractual necessity
  • AI analysis of recordings → Legitimate interest & Consent
  • Sharing anonymized data with third parties → Legitimate interest & Consent
  • Fraud detection & anti-cheating monitoring (e.g., GPS spoofing prevention, account misuse detection) → Legitimate interest
  • Marketing communications (where applicable) → Consent (opt-in)
  • Compliance with legal obligations → Legal obligation

4. Privacy for Bystanders

  • PathPulse uses AI-based anonymization (e.g., blurring faces, license plates) to reduce capture of identifiable information of bystanders.
  • We will not sell or share raw unblurred imagery.
  • Individuals may request removal or additional blurring of sensitive data (see Section 12).

5. User Privacy Controls

You can:

  • Pause or stop data collection at any time by stopping recording or logging out.
  • Request deletion of your data/account.
  • Request "privacy zones" (e.g., around home or workplace) where data will not be collected.

6. Data Sharing

We may share data with:

  • Third-party service providers (storage, analytics, fraud prevention)
  • Government agencies, research bodies, and private partners (only anonymized/aggregated datasets)
  • Business transfers (merger, acquisition, restructuring — your data may transfer to the new entity under this same policy)

We do not sell personal data.

7. Data Retention

  • Personal data → retained as long as necessary for services/legal obligations.
  • After account deletion → your personal data will be deleted within 90 days, unless retention is required by law.
  • Anonymized datasets → may be stored indefinitely.

8. Data Security

We apply technical and organizational safeguards:

  • End-to-end encryption for sensitive transfers
  • Access controls for staff
  • Fraud monitoring & anti-cheating systems
  • Regular security audits

9. Marketing Communications

We may send marketing/newsletters only with your opt-in consent (or where permitted by law).

You can unsubscribe anytime via email link or account settings.

10. International Transfers

Your data may be processed outside your country. We ensure protection through:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for EU/UK users
  • Equivalent safeguards where applicable

11. Device & App Disclaimer

We are not responsible for:

  • Device battery drain, overheating, storage depletion
  • Software or hardware malfunctions
  • Performance issues caused by the App

12. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), you may:

  • Access, correct, or delete your data
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Request data portability
  • Withdraw consent (where processing is consent-based)
  • Lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority

For EU/UK users:

14. Complaints

  • EU/EEA: You may complain to your national Data Protection Authority → List.

  • US/California: You may exercise your rights under CCPA by contacting us directly.

15. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

16. Changes to This Policy

  • We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
  • Updates will be posted in-app & on our website.
  • Continued use of the App = acceptance of updates.
